Poem About Nature and Life

Winter Stillness Without

Enjoy a poem about nature and life. Not alone, yet lonely, wondering who you be. I am on the outside, loving the scenery…

Robin and his mate perch on snowy branches, amid the quiet landscape.

The pond, white-crusted, a skating rink might make.

Ice-laden pines pierce the frosty sky.

A distant, mystery dwelling, forever reaching high.

Three steps snow-mounded, untouched by man or beast.

Serve only a reminder of lazy, summer porch days, always facing east.

Hazy hang the stars, blue and purple glories, beauties to enthrall.

Reflections, white upon the icy water, amazed to see one fall.

The cabin stands serene.

The glowing window speaks, someone therein being.

Rich wood logs, sturdy bulwark against the fiercest storm.

Chimney smoke rising, wafting away forlorn.

Is a friend inside? Is it someone that I know?

My heart yearns to inquire, knock upon the door, unheeded by the snow.

Separate souls across the way, the seat across the aisle.

Marching down the street, distance increasing by the mile.

Who are you, Other? The one I cannot name?

We live upon the Earth, today, living much the same.

Mr. Robin and his mate,

Watch in accepting fate.

Not alone, yet lonely,

Wondering who you be.

I am on the outside, loving the scenery.
