Audiobooks are on the rise and with our current multitasking generation growing into a science fiction future, I suspect that my work may be far more approachable in the audiobook format. My ebooks, paperbacks, and hardcovers are available on Amazon, but it feels very much like handing a fish a glass of water. The book market is nearly saturated with content, which makes it hard for readers to discern good quality from poor when trying to figure out what to buy next.

To my joy, I discovered one of the strongest benefits of Audible—its incredible narrators. I offered My Road Goes Ever On, Spiritual Being, Human Journey on Audible, and in a matter of hours, I had several wonderful voice actors offering me auditions. To say that I was impressed is an understatement. I was overwhelmed. The fact that they read through my material and seemed eager to work with me gave my writer’s ego a bit of a morale boost. When I discovered that some of the narrators were already familiar with my work and hoped to narrate either my fiction or my nonfiction, I felt that I had finally found a marketplace I could call home.

In my first Audible book offering, My Road Goes Ever On, Spiritual Being, Human Journey, I listened to a number of auditions over the course of several days, and though I was impressed with all of them, I felt an immediate connection to Liz Wylder Boyer. She not only enunciates perfectly, but she gives dynamic expression to each chapter, taking the entire work to a new level. She is light-hearted, spirited, enthusiastic, genuine, and attractive. At the same time, when the material called for a sense of humor or a more serious attitude, her expressive tone carried the meaning right where it belonged.

Her professional demeanor and quick response time meant that I didn’t have to figure out what was going on. She stated exactly what she would do, what I needed to do, and how the process would work. Yes, the narration does cost money. But for the price, she brought my work to higher ground. Listeners can be entertained by more than mere words, they can be inspired by her dynamic style as well. Two benefits for the price of one!

I will soon have other audiobooks available on Audible. Look for my other non-fiction work, The Road Goes Ever On—A Christian Journey Through The Lord of the Rings, and my two sci-fi dramas Homestead and Last of Her Kind.

Let’s take books into the future. Happy listening!

“I found reading her book enjoyable and relaxing, and a way to refocus my mind away from daily negativity and the monotony of life. Simply put, readers will enjoy her openness, wisdom, and positive writings from a person that really appreciates life and the little things. I can resonate, so will readers, as they reflect, absorb, and renew their energy by letting a little of the light in from her writings.” ~CBM Christian Book Review

“The author uses the virtues and vices of Tolkien’s creations to remind us that those same virtues and vices are present in modern days.” ~Joan
